MuEdit is an editor for small (< 32K chars) text files. The files can have styled texts, that is, different parts can have different fonts, font sizes, colors, and facetypes (e.g., bold or italic). The files can also contain text in multiple scripts.
You can edit documents in any script whose resources have been added to your system. For example, you do not need to reboot to the Arabic System for editing Arabic documents; you just need Arabic Script resources.
MuEdit documents have the type ‘TEXT’. The text itself is stored in the data fork of the document, the style information in a ‘styl’ resource, and the justification and word wrap information in a ‘hexa’ resource. MuEdit can read text files produced by other editors, but treats them as unstyled documents. Similarly, other word processors will most likely ignore the style informatiodved by MuEdit. Hence for styled editing you should process MuEdit documents with MuEdit only.
